My brother says his head is "thumping" after he rides a exercise bike.He says it is not painful , just weird. After his heart rate settles down it goes away.
It is like his heartbeat is in his brain.
He is on the bike only 10 – 20 minutes , not like hours.
He is 6′4" 285 lbs
Yes he drinks water , it is along both sides of his head. Not really at the top or back of his head.

My in-laws were going to sell us their exercise bike, but when we got it home the screen that shows time, heart rate, etc., would light up when you peddled (it’s self energizing), but none of the info would come up. Nothing at all. It was just blank. Well for one, it’s been in their garage for a whole year (it get’s super hot in the summer), and the fact that before that her daycare kids were climbing all over it and pushing the buttons.
They tried to say that we must have done something to it. My mother-in-law said, "Well it was working just fine at our house!" So my husband asked her when the last time was she’d tested it out. She told him a year. Then we asked how old it was…….15 years old, at least.
So anyway, we just want to know how long they hold up for? Especially since her daycare kids were messing with it. My husband told me that his parents have been known to try to sell broken equipment to people, all the while telling them that it’s in good working condition

bored asked: do you see how there are two types of exercise bikes
there is one where your leaning against the chair
and another where you are upright as though
you are on a real bike
is there any difference between the workouts you get?
which one do you think is better for you and helps you break a
sweat?

Im looking for a good exercise bike that has a calorie counter, distance, and time. I dont want to pay more than 0.
It would also be cool if it had an ipod thing so you could listen to music. I dont really need the ipod thing, it would just be neat. Thanks!

K asked:
I’m looking to buy a (cheap) exercise bike, but i can’t decide what would be better, the uprights or the recumbents (the ones where you sit back and pedal as opposed to lean forward and hold the grips). Also, if you have any suggestions as to which brands to get or NOT to get, that would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking to spend under $150, just a very basic bike, nothing fancy.

I have a pretty good exercise bike (Life Cycle 9500HR)
I ride for 30 minutes and it seems it always reads out 10.80 miles. I started out on level 2, keeping the RPMs at 100-105= 10.80 miles. I recently have changed to the first 2 minutes warming up and keeping the RPMs at 75-85 and the last 2 minutes the same for a cool down, while minutes 3-28 are at 100-115 RPms. and still it shows 10.80 miles. How accurate do you think this is? Is there a simple way to know for sure how far I rode?

I’ve recently started using a stationary upright exercise bike, and noticed a very bad upper back pain – its constant, but worse when I am using the bike.
I have tried many different postures, and heights for the seat but nothing is helping.
Why is this happening?

I go to school full time and work, so its hard to get to the gym, but I have an exercise bike and I figure I can probably do it for about 45 minutes a day at least 4 times a week. Will this help me lose weight along with reducing calorie intake?
