Home Gym Workout Routines

March 7th, 2010

Home gym workout routines can take the hassle out of staying healthy. How often have you claimed your busy schedule as the reason you could not get to the gym? How many times have you skipped a workout you knew would make you feel better because the fatigue of traffic and the pace of a gym with trainers were too much for your work weary mind?

Well, say good bye to the excuses standing in your way because home gym workout routines are the answer for your busy schedule. The key to a successful home gym workout routine is scheduling yourself time.

Even though you are working out at home, you still need to hold yourself accountable to your own body. Setting aside a little time will make your workouts less stressful because you will already have that time framed for the activity.

Home gym workout routines can be tailored to meet your specific needs and available equipment. Try a treadmill workout routine to get yourself started and you can do that today. With a treadmill walking program you can work legs and even tone abs and arms.

You should always consult your physician before beginning any workout regimen, because they can help you tailor your routine to your health needs and abilities. Begin with moderate walking twenty minutes a day and this can go a long way to decrease your stress load, increase your energy level and tone your muscles.

The great thing about a treadmill workout routine is you can do it year round in any weather condition. A treadmill walking program can be done as you read the newspaper or make evening calls or it can be a time of complete peace and isolation. Adding small hand weights can afford upper body toning even as you walk.

Your body deserves your attention, and your schedule need not stand in the way. Try a home gym workout routine today to shake away the cob webs from your body and you’ll start seeing amazing results.

Exercise Routines For Stressed Professionals

March 5th, 2010

With the increased rate of heart attacks among stressed professionals, it has now been highlighted that a successful career is not just a matter of money but should be about health and fitness as well. Many professionals do not pay sufficient time or attention to weight management and fitness as they focus more on progressing within their career. However, poor health can quickly end a career and prevent a stressed professional from enjoying the fruits of their success.

Stressed professionals need simple yet effective exercise routines which will not hamper their daily schedule yet be a sufficient distraction to provide a mental break from the workplace. While all exercise is beneficial, cardiovascular exercise routines would be of the greatest value as it improves health while assisting with mental acuity and emotional well-being. A few minutes a day can make the difference between an early heart attack or a long and productive career and life. These values have been stressed by many large corporations throughout the world who have either installed exercise facilities within the company premises or encouraged physical activities among work colleagues. For a personal fitness plan, a professional needs to commit to just 20 minutes a day to benefit from a simple exercise routine.

Some effective options to improve fitness and assist with de-stressing is a daily yoga routine. Requiring just a few minutes a day, yoga can be practiced at home or within the office and the combination of deep breathing, muscle stretching and postures have been proven to be beneficial in positively contributing towards your health and fitness levels. Other simple exercise options do not require any specialized techniques or practices and can involve an array of general high school fitness techniques. A combination of push-ups, sit-ups, jogging-on-the-spot, and skipping can be a quick and easy routine for stressed professionals. Technology has now reached a point where fun and fitness can be brought into our living room and confined spaces. The Nintendo Wii with its Fitness package is a fun and controlled manner for daily exercise with carefully planned and co-ordinated activities to exercise your entire body and monitor your fitness levels.

The importance of any fitness plan, whether it is at the gym or a simple routine in your home or office is to ensure consistency. Research has shown that attempting to exercise less than three times a week can often be detrimental to your health by straining the heart muscle. Furthermore an exercise routine should last at least 20 minutes to be of cardiovascular benefit and be effective enough to contribute towards your weight loss goals. Another important factor in fitness is eating healthy and correctly for your body’s needs as many stressed professionals opt for fast foods due to the lack of time in their work day.

Adopting a simple yet effective exercise routine will immediately bring benefits to both your social life and career with an improved sense of general well-being and mental clarity. Stressed professionals need to address their stress levels as stress triggers hormone responses in the body that can contribute to the onset of diabetes, heart attacks and strokes.

Fitness Equipments – Treadmills vs Elliptical Trainers vs Exercise Bikes

March 4th, 2010

Fitness is on the minds of everybody today. People want to remain healthy to live longer, to enjoy most of the things that can be done only when your body is healthy. Catering to this aspect, manufacturers have flooded the market with never ending options in the field of fitness regime.

Consumers have been given a plethora of options that help them in achieving their fitness goals. This sometimes lands up the consumer in a confused state of mind in deciding, which equipment will suit him the best. The recent buzz created in the fitness equipment market calls for treadmills, exercise bikes and elliptical trainers. All these machines are capable of providing instant and consistent benefit to your health. But which one is best for you? Here is your guide on these 3 basic fitness equipments.

Treadmills

They are the most widely used fitness equipments in the market. Tread machines are mostly used to increase your cardiovascular activity, to maintain an appropriate bone density and to loose weight. As per studies, while comparing it with the other two machines, it was found that it is better than the other two equipments. It was established in the study that treadmills help in burning more calories.

Besides this, it also offers you the best opportunity to tone each and every muscle of your body. A treadmill exercising session can help you burn around 50-250 calories in an hour.

The best about a treadmills structure is: they are built to absorb all the pounding that is generating while you are running or walking on the machine. Most treadmills have electronic settings that help you customize your workout programs. Treadmills are built such that they can be programmed according to individualistic needs.

Due to all these reasons, treadmills have been rated as the best training options to attain impeccable fitness.

Elliptical Trainers

They are built to offer you a unique range of fitness benefits. Elliptical trainers provide you with low-impact workout programs that are very easy on your joints and lower body. The only disadvantage that this machine carries is that it burns fewer calories as compared to a treadmill.

The in-built workout programs that elliptical trainers’ carries have such an affect on your body that you will lose weight without affecting much of your knees, hips and back. It also helps you build an appropriate bone density. The machine can be programmed with the help of its in-built electronic setup. All in all, elliptical trainers are full body exercisers that help in toning your leg, thigh muscles to giving strength to your hands. And, all this can be done without stress and pounding.

Exercise Bikes

This machine has been rightly termed as a machine with low impact yet high performance. The workout programs that it carries are of easy intensity that works affectively on the joints and the body parts. The best part about exercise bikes is that they are the most economically priced fitness equipments. And the bad part is that they have a very low calorie burning ratio. Thus if you are planning to use a bike to lose weight then you must put in some extra hard work.

Exercise bikes are the most ancient in the fitness industry. But with technological innovations, their dying numbers have consequently geared up in the market. The machine caters to the aspect of fitness by allowing the user to maintain their heart rates without putting stress on knees, feet, hips and ankles. The exercise bikes come with built-in resistance features that help you achieve your desired goals. Now a days, there are several models that offer you electronic setups.

Comparing your health needs with the above mentioned features of treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise bikes, you can make your health equipment pick. And enjoy your workouts for a healthy life! All the best!

Low Price Treadmills – Where and How to Find Low Priced Treadmills

March 3rd, 2010

Looking for low price treadmills? In this tough economic market, many people want to get a high quality motorized treadmill for less.

Unfortunately, in many places, treadmill prices are rising (stores are feeling the pinch too). But there are still ways you can save money and get a quality treadmill for less.

This article will list 3 ways to find a low priced treadmill. Please note that I don’t recommend that you buy a low quality treadmill. Because a treadmill with cheap construction, design and cushioning can end up costing you in the long run in repairs, time and injured hips, knees and joints.

However if you’re looking to save money and still get a high value machine, here are the top 3 ways to get a low price treadmill:

#1 Buy Direct From the Manufacturer

Some treadmill manufacturers sell their treadmills directly to the consumer and skip the store middleman. You save on store markup and deal directly with the manufacturer.

Buying direct can save you up to 45% as manufacturers usually have the lowest prices on their own treadmills.

Here’s another advantage to buying direct. If, on the very slim chance, that something should go wrong with your treadmill – it’s easier to deal directly with the manufacturer to get the problem fixed.

In some cases they can actually do more for you than if you’d bought that same treadmill through the store.

#2 Buy Online

Even if you don’t buy direct from the manufacturer, there are some treadmill stores online where you can get discounts off store prices. (They don’t have to pay for maintaining a storefront, salaries etc. so they can afford to drop prices on their machines).

If you time it right, many online stores will also give you free shipping (which can normally cost up to $200). You can also save on sales tax in many cases.

#3 Buy A Used Treadmill

You can often get a used treadmill for about half the price as you’d find in the store. Many commercial grade treadmills are refurbished/rebuilt and then resold to the home consumer for half the list price.

You can also find discount treadmills in your local newspaper or classifieds. Moving sales are also a great place to look as the owners probably don’t want to drag a heavy treadmill to their next house.

There are several hazards to buying a used treadmill that most buyers are not aware of however.

For example, most treadmill manufacturers will not honor the warranty for a second owner. So if the treadmill breaks the day after you get it home, you’re out the money to fix it.

Also, keep in mind that you’ll probably be responsible for moving the treadmill yourself so you may need to rent or borrow a truck.

Plus, you can never really be sure why the buyer is selling. And you don’t know how much wear and tear is on the treadmill – so chances of buying a lemon are higher if you buy used than if you buy new.

So those are 3 ways to find low price treadmills. Just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t find a higher quality treadmill. Whatever you choose to do, remember to buy as high quality as you can afford – it will pay off in the long run!

Is it better to spread out exercise routines over numerous blocks or to do it all at the same time?

March 3rd, 2010
Treebeard asked:

Hey guys, I have a workout question for all you gym buffs out there. I work out for 2 hours Monday-Thursday. I usually do my free weights/other exercises in blocks of 10-25 reps (or whatever you call them). I usually do this 3x. Is it better for me to do split up my workout into three blocks or to do them all at the same time.

Example: Lifting weights (35lbs) in 10 reps and spreading them out over 3 “blocks.”
OR
Lifting weights (35lbs) in 30 reps.

Thanks again.
